Collected garden

Part of the Lotea series, this piece will be part of a collection of timepieces dedicated to collecting and preserving nature in both an old world and new world way. This is the first of the timepieces. They will be strung upon hand made woven brass (etruscan style) chains and I am making a collar chain as well in a different style for the whole lot to hang on. The length of the dangling watch should reach midriff, while the chain collar will be 16 inches or collar bone length. Similar to a pocket watch necktie effect.

In this piece there is a hand cut copper disc with hand made sterling granules and hammered wire all soldered together to create a picture of a garden frozen within a vintage style pocket watch face (glass overlay). The watch is not handmade it is a component. The chain is completely handmade. I cut, soldered and shaped the links.

The silver and copper disc has been painted with a varnish to keep it from oxidizing within the watch chamber.
